The Sokol-KV2 spacesuit (No. 0360185) was worn by the Russian cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri on his flight to the MIR space station in the Soyuz TM24 spacecraft on 17 August 1996. Kaleri wore the same spacesuit on his return to Earth on 2 March 1997 (EO-22), and it carries the following insignia: the flag of the Russian Federation, the emblem of the Russian Space Agency (RSA) and the emblem of the orbital MIR Space Station.
Alexander Kaleri was born in 1956 and spent many years working on the development of the MIR Space Station. He was selected as a cosmonaut in 1984 and flew three long-term missions to MIR in 1992, 1996-1997 and 2000. This was followed by a joint mission with Michael Foale on the ISS Expedition 8, in 2003-2004, when the two men worked on the international space station. In 1992 Kaleri received the award “Hero of the Russian Federation”.
